The Other One series helped establish HAY as a brand in 2003. Leif Jørgensen was HAY’s first designer, and with the Other One he created a furniture series consisting of modernist and innovative furniture typologies in bright complementary colours based on the concept of using furniture as spatial elements that did not necessarily dictate their specific use but instead invited free interpretation. The Other One series was the ideal front-runner for HAY as an ambitious and innovative furniture brand, and the unconventional series has remained an active part of HAY’s furniture collection.
Two equally large ovals make up this chair that tilts both ways and thus forms two different furniture designs – one with a slightly smaller seat than the other. In Other One and Other One Ottoman the oval openings are used as recurring geometric characteristics along with a padded interior and edges with textile upholstery that give the series its tactile feel and innovative charisma.
